| You know, one thing I've been wondering of late is whether it's okay to use different rep and set ranges for different parts of the body? A 5x5 does nothing for my upper body, but wonders for my legs. Same as a descending pyramid (x12, x10, x8, x6) does great things for my upper body but not for my legs. Is it actually a good thing to work the body in a different way like that? I always assumed you should work with the same rep/set range on both upper and lower body. ![]() Btw...it may be a very simple answer but I've had a couple glasses of wine on an empty stomach so I'm pretty merry about now. ![]()

I guess if it works for you then keep at doing it. for me I always seem to go higher reps on my legs and I prefer it to the lower reps range and my legs are not to small. But then on my upper body I sometimes do 15 reps for an exercise and 8 to 10 on others. Would be intresting to hear the science side of things on this though.

I think it's okay to use what works for you. You will know your body better then anyone. For me some things seem to respond better with lower weights and higher reps, some with more weight less reps, and some lifts it seems like I do alright heavy/light/medium whatever. I don't think you should need to worry about using the same reps for every lift as long as you're progressing evenly and not creating imbalances.

I think I'll start doing whatever my body responds to rather than what I've always assumed it should be done. Thanks guys, you rock.
