17 day hell

Hey guys, I decided to end the program Big Guns made for me (big kudos to you man!), and I want to use my last 17 days before vacation for lifting some heavy iron! I was thinking of doing a bench-centered program (chest, shoulders and triceps), and trying to add 2.5kg/5.5lbs to my bench in 17 days, do you think that could be done? (After seeing Striker's bench progress, I wanted to increase my bench too )

Not to sound like an arrogant bastard, but 90kg/200lbs bench has been a goal of mine for a long time, and I'd really like to do it before my long vacation. (I also don't think that starting a full body program with perfect rep ranges and periodization would be such a smart idea to do since I only have 17 days to train before I'm going away).

Any advices and ideas would be appreciated!

Re: 17 day hell

Monday:
Bench press 5x3
Incline bench press 3x6
Dumbbell bench press 3x8

Wednesday:
Weighted dips 5x3
Close grip bench press 3x6
2-arm-lying-dumbbell-tricep-extension 3x8

Friday:
Decline bench press 5x3
Seated dumbbell shoulder press 3x6
Smith machine shoulder press 4x8

A very simple and basic program. I don't expect anything much out of it, I'm only doing it for my heavy lifting needs. Is there anything terribly wrong with it? (besides only working the bench press muscles? )

Re: 17 day hell

Its ignorant actually. Why neglect your pulling muscles to just push. That program isnt basic at all, it looks more like a rookie program.

Re: 17 day hell

I'm with Malley here - you got even things up and do some PULLING movements too dude, plus add legs in also!

Do you know what someone with a good chest, arms and shoulders but poor legs and back looks like? I'll tell you - STUPID! haha

I'd rather have a big back than a big chest, being wide gets more respect

The first thing I thought of tho was, why have you left it till 17 days before you go away to try to do this? You should have planned well in advance?

Re: 17 day hell

No guys, I think you misunderstood. This program was meant just for over 2 weeks before I leave to my vacation. I don't expect any gains at all, I only want to lift some heavy iron, and since I can't do deadlifts or squats, the only big compound exercise I can do is bench.

Doesn't matter now because I decided to use those days to practise my form on olympic lifts.

As for the time when I come back from my vacation, I'll try to make a balanced program, and after some time I'll start adding squats back in to my program. I'm also thinking of doing hyperextensions to help my lower back recover before I go back to deadlifting.

Re: 17 day hell

I see what you mean, but you can still do pulling movements right?

And you can do leg extentions and curls for legs? It's just more beneficial to you, even if it is just for a couple of week before you go away
