Angry Stupid parents will not let me go to a gym!!

I'm seriously frustrated. I have no real good equipment. All I have are 15 lbs to 25 lb dumbbells & I know that these alone isn't going to cut it for bulking. I've been job hunting for months in my area but no luck. I mean at least with a job, I can be able to afford more equipment to buy so I can work on those & get bigger.I told my mom & she doesn't take me seriously. She said if you want to bulk up, why not work around the house. That alone is not going to help me bulk.I've been working on the dumbbells, I feel stronger but I still look the same.Overall I'm stuck, I've been trying everything to convince my mom. Still job hunting, no place in my area once to hire me. Sheesh!!! I do have a birhtday coming up next month. What's the one thing I should ask for as far as fitness equipment is concerned?

I have a feeling it's your age, or it could be that they don't think you will stay commited.. These are both logical reasons, IMO I think you should show them that you are serious. If they won't simply listen to you, like NBS said, you can do this my simply working out at your house for a few months. You're not stuck with anything, you can do plenty of exercises with 15 and 25lb dbs. If you're looking to bulk you should reach failure around the 14th rep, (i.e.) if you do flyes with perfect form with the 25lb db, you should hit failure.

I'm guessing he's either 19 or he will be 19 soon, based on his name. I used to be in the same situation, and mreik is right. You need to show them you're really interested in it. Just use what you have for now, and stay completely dedicated. I started out with just a bench and some dumbbells because my dad bought it for him my brother and me.

I used it for a few months, and they knew i worked out every day too, and finally i told them seriously "the bench and dumbbells we have aren't enough for my goals, can we please look intog getting me a gym pass?" They agreed, so i looked around and found some cheap gyms, but ultimately i got a pass at my college for way cheaper.

Cutting grass, blowing leaves, digging can be quite tiring and a nice workout. You will notice that almost all muscle groups are used in one way or the other. So I don't disagree totally with that.

Yeah hopefully & I'm 18 going on 19 next month. If I don't have a job by my birthday. What's one thing I should ask for as far as equipment? Barbells or something?

What should you ask for? Dumbells with some plates. Get more plates as you get stronger.

As for getting your folks to fund your gym membership:
I would just let them see you work out as best as you can with what you have. Don't rub it in by like standing in front of the TV and saying "I am going to work out now" but come out of your room sweaty and tired every day and then after they see you are serious for a few weeks they may reconsider. Although The best best best thing you could do is to just get a job and pay for it yourself. In fact that should be priority #1 even before getting into shape. With no job you have no way to really take care of yourself or even buy your own food. Life only gets better when you work for money

They make adjustable dbs (cheaper ones use plates, nicer ones have those attachment things), but he might have meant bb.
