Rep Power: 10 | | Bulking - these amounts good? I've been cutting for the past few weeks (lost a good few pounds), but having read LOADS of posts I've decided I'm gonna bulk first and then get rid of the excess fat.
I'm 5ft 9, 153lbs and think I'll be able to gain weight easily (just don't want too much fat)
Can you just confirm these stats I've picked up are good:
1000 cals more than need a day
2.5-3g carbs per body weight
1g protein (at least) per body weight
+ plenty of fibre & healthy fats
I will be eating perfectly cleanly, just like i was when cutting but more.
Is the carbs alright or would it be better to keep them lower, say 1g per body weight? I just don't want to overdo it and end up fat.
One other thing is, the issue of how much cardio to do. When I was losing weight I would do 30 mins of HIIT 3/4 days a week (weights 4 days). What would you recommend now? once a week?
Thanks,
Steve |

Rep Power: 0 | | | carbs aren't anything to be scared of, they're all about timing. try to stay away from simple carbs, and stay away from all carbs after prob 7pm (that doesnt mean @ 6.45 chow down on like 4 sandwhiches lol). and i'd go with 2 days of HIIT, but remember to always to weights before cardio. i know this may seem a bit extreme, but if you could, drink a glass of milk before bed. then mid way through the night, get up and drink another.. it's hard, but it helps.

Rep Power: 10 | | | Oh thats what I forgot to ask. Is it ok to drink loads of skimmed milk? I was told not to drink too much when I was losing weight becuase of the casein and how its slow absorbing. It shouldn't be a problem when bulking though should it?
Also I'm not totally sure on how many grams of fat I should be getting. Most of it would come from walnuts, but as long as its good fats does it not really matter? |

Variety is something to pay a lot of attention to. And "Good fats" are still fats - they're just much more bioavailable than saturated/trans fats. Any overabundance of energy is going to be stored as fat in the body. |

They're available from several manufacturers. They're slow-release proteins then prevent catabolism all throughout the night, preventing the need to obsessively wake up each 4 hours to eat.
Of course, $$$ is the price you pay for this convenience. |

Rep Power: 10 | | | Say if I'm having 3800 cals a day, can somebody tell me how many grams of protein, carbs and fat I should have, for bulking/muscle growth without gaining too much fat?
Its just I don't know what the PROPER percentages are for bulking.
Thanks.. | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode | |
