My poor knee has wear and tear on it and I'm not going to be able to lift any heavy weights for weeks. The doc said i don't have a meniscus tear, but rather it's bruised good. Ordered rest and physical therapy. Good luck to the rest of you gals.

I think of all the years of lifting and pulled muscles I can do this on my own. I'm not going to lift heavy (or any weights) for a couple months. I'm going to do simple leg extensions and BW squats, static type stuff. Mainly focus on strengthening the tendons and ligaments. The meniscus is bruised (thankfully not torn) but since it gets minimal blood supply, it's not going to heal itself very fast. I'll take it one day at a time. rightnow I cant even go up or down stairs without putting most of my weight on the rail.

But hey, you're still young and now's the chance to let it heal properly. Do you know what you can do to avoid this type of injury? Will you get 100% recovery or will there always be a chance of recurring injury with it? I am so sorry to hear that you're out of the competition. But your health comes first and the weights will still be there (and just as heavy) when you're ready to come back. |
