Maidstone siys between 2 long ridges of hills, Even now you cant get to london from Dover without going thru Maidstone. Dover is only commercial port in the South East of England. It was also the 1st town that William the conqueror invaded. and built his first Castle in our neghbouring town. Rochester Castle is still standing and is almost 1000 years old.
Hows that for a history lesson!!!! Also, the county of Kent is the royal garden, and Maidstone is the county town. Witch makes maidstone the most Royally important town in the country.
And finaly in the points of interest competition. try googleing leeds castle, the 1st link is leeds-castle.com Thats where I play golf. You can see the 6th green at the bottom of the main picture. Its a par 4 but Ive never got it in less than 5.
I just googled rochester castle and found out that the guy who build rochester castle, also build the tower of london.
