conditioning

a bodybuilder was in are gym the other day and he has been dieting for about 8 weeks for the NABBA and the northwest bodybuilding competitions.
when he was asked to slide his top up and show his abs, he hardly had any.
and he wernt even that cut.
he wasnt cut to be onest. he only got like 9 weeks left or so.
i asked a fellow bodybuilder craig ( came 3rd in the british northwest)and he said "id b worried if i was him, im in the offseason now and you ca still see my abs"!!
the guy also mentioned he was only doing half an hour cardio in the morning and at night.
by all means i dont think that is near enough especially if he wants to get completely ripped for a show!
what do you guys think and tell us what you would think ..would you be worried ?

Yes I'd be worried. You can see most bodybuilders abs even in the off season.

I dont know if I would completely agree. For one, where is he genetically predispositioned to carry his bodyfat? If one of the spots is his abs then that might be one of the last places to come in before he steps on stage. Everyone's physique is different and A LOT happens in 9 weeks so I dont know that I would neccesarily say that a person isnt stage ready just because of abdominal definition. Did you happen to see the rest of his physique? And with the cardio, that is actually quite a bit of cardio for a male bodybuilder at 9 weeks out. I know male bodybuilders that dont have to do more than 20 minute sessions to prepare for a show and come in ripped. There are just too many varibles to consider when you make a statement like that. You have to be mindful of those variables unless you are holding the persons genetic code in your hand.

9 weeks is still some time. This is when the diets get real tight. All ya can do is wait and see.

Damn, I thought I posted here when this theread was originally posted?!

Oh well, I agree cara and B.Guns - 9 weeks is a fair amount of time to make considerable changes and also, everyone is deifferent so some guys DO have to diet 100% and not miss any cardio/meals etc.. others can be more slack with things but still dial in ripped

There are tons of bb'ers in the offseason who are fat as shit. I wouldnt be worried, but remember that guy isnt exactly a pro.

9 weeks is a lot of time. It can be pulled off.

Re: conditioning

2 months is a very good amount of time...If done correctly possibly 2 pounds a week that is 16 pounds...anything else is not very healthy in my opinion...I also do not think cardio should be the only method of losing weight if his diet is solid he will be okay.
