Cable tricep pushdowns, which grip?

I do two exercises for triceps, cable pushdown and CGBP. When I do the cable pushdowns I use an underhand grip and do them as reverse pushdowns because to me the underhand grip seems to hit the triceps more directly, which grip do you guys use for this exercise?

Re: Cable tricep pushdowns, which grip?

I remember the last time I did a serious reverse grip cable pressdown in a workout. It was in the winter of 1999. I'm serious.

I've noticed with those that when I use the reverse grip, I seem to target the "horseshoe" part of my triceps. When I use the standard grip, I target the short, inner head right above the elbow. My triceps are high, and you really wouldn't know I had arms if my sleeves go down to my elbow. So I try to build the thickness of that head right above the elbow with the standard grip.

Re: Cable tricep pushdowns, which grip?

I usually do the regular grip, but occasionally I'll do reverse. Nice to target your muscles differently sometimes, but when I do reverse, I do one arm. Try that out, it is pretty nice.

Re: Cable tricep pushdowns, which grip?

I just do the regular grip, and then do skull crushers for the other part of the head.

Re: Cable tricep pushdowns, which grip?

I do them overhand but the way I push down can be different. For the back part of the arm I use a similar motion to a skull crusher, elbows tucked in and only the lower part of my arm moves, if you can see what I'm saying.

Re: Cable tricep pushdowns, which grip?

i would use a rev. grip, i'd use the rope and i'd use a regular grip with the straight bar when on cables.

i also used skull krushrs and extensions for the rest of the iso work.
