Deadlift Form

Hi guys,

Posted this in my journal put I think I will get a bit more help in this section.

Filmed myself doing deadlifts and just need some pointers on where to improve my form.

I think I am rounding my back to much but just wanted to make sure and any other things that need to be improved.

Thanks.

Re: Deadlift Form

The code is too big for the youtube vid mate. Should be 11 characters long. I tried editing it for you and took away the last 3 characters to make it 11 but it didn't work either.

EDIT: I believe I'm talking bullshit now, looks like what I did fixed it

As for the lift, not bad. As you pointed out, the back is a little rounded and you just wanna straighten it up, pull your shoulders back more and that will help too. Also, don't pull back past verticle - once you pull up and you're straight, hold it briefly and then lower - DON'T lean back further, it will only cause stress to the lower back and discs in your spine.

get those things right and your doing a nice lift!

Re: Deadlift Form

yep...ass down, keep that lower back tense, head up...eyes straight ahead

can't see what you're doing as far as feet...but make sure you're pushing off your heels!

bar should be touching your shins the entire way up(or very close to)

All i'm seeing wrong is that you are standing up too straight at the beginning. Squatting down a little further will give you more power from your quads...and should help keep your back straight as well!

There is nothing in the world of weights that feels the same as the deadlift! By far my favorite lift!

Re: Deadlift Form

Dead lifting form is very hard to master. I would like to suggest to you to incorporate stiff-legged and "Kennedy" dead lifts as well as some clean and jerks movements in your routine. I think these will help to add to your form.

Re: Deadlift Form

This may sound gay, but try sticking your ass out. This will arch your back and prevent rounding.

Let's master the deadlift....then we can add other styles. He needs to get his butt down lower which will take more flexibility. Keep up the work Cab!!!

Read the post fella! I wrote "SUGGEST"! I didn't write "add other styles or methods or anything like that! I wrote "incorporate". Sure it means "to add to"! He could minimally incorporate these on a once a week basis. It's up to him if he wants do what "I SUGGESTED to him" If he wants to keep doing the same thing over and over, that's his business. My SUGGESTIONS, mind you SUGGESTIONS, will definitely enhance his the primary dead lift. And of course, he has to get his butt down lower to the floor.
